Rencontre avec Colin Rich, nominé pour LA Light dans la catégorie Movie (interview en anglais)

- Hello, can you introduce yourself ?
Hi. I’m Colin and I’m the creator of LA Light.
- Can you tell us more about « LA Light » ? Can you explain us the aim of your art ?
LA Light took about 7 months of shooting to finish. It was shot only at night and usually on cool or windy evenings to maintain clarity shot to shot throughout the project. My main objective was to shoot LA and capture the energy of the city but in an organic manner.
I think since that a lot of people commute in cars, they are distanced from the beauty of the city and usually pass through without noticing how truly beautiful, intricate, and connected it can be. I tried my best to shoot from original locations so this took me to some interesting locations throughout the project, some legal, some « off limits » (behind the hollywood sign) but you go and shoot where you need to make it work.

- What are you different projects and plans for 2012 ?
I am currently in the midst of working on a follow up to LA Lights called « Hidden Light, » so hopefully sometime in the first quarter of 2012 you’ll be able to check it out. This project is about the roads between where we go and is all time lapse night photography. The main theme is isolation.
- What can we wish you for 2012 ?
Good weather! I’ll be camping a good deal of the time to get the right shots so hopefully the weather cooperates!
